On the afternoon of November 19, 2025, the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering invited Fu Xiangsheng, Vice President of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, to deliver a special report titled "High-Quality Development Achievements and New Situation of the Petrochemical Industry" at the multifunctional hall of the East Campus Library Conference Center. The report was presided over by Ren Feng, Deputy Secretary of the School's Party Committee.

The report reviewed the development history of the global chemical industry, tracing the journey of the petrochemical industry in New China. It detailed the three major development stages: from initial establishment and rapid growth to embarking on a new journey toward becoming a global leader. The report systematically outlined the achievements and innovative breakthroughs of China's petrochemical industry during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period. In line with the "15th Five-Year Plan," it emphasized innovation trends and reflections for the new stage, analyzing pathways for the green and low-carbon transformation, digital upgrading, and innovative breakthroughs in the petrochemical industry. Additionally, it highlighted the importance of leveraging technological tools such as artificial intelligence and big data to drive innovation and address industry challenges.

This report provided important guidance for the School's formulation of the "15th Five-Year Plan." Moving forward, the School will continue to conduct in-depth research, systematic planning, and collaborative efforts to complete the planning process with high quality, thereby laying a solid foundation for future talent cultivation and disciplinary development.

The lecture was attended by over 100 participants, including Yu Hongjie, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, faculty representatives, counselors, and graduate students.
