From September 9th to 11th, 2025, the registration and orientation for over 300 new master's and doctoral students of the 2025 grade in the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering were held simultaneously at the Changping Campus and the East Campus. The college established a welcome working group at the end of August. The graduate student affairs group and the graduate student Party branch of the college took the lead in organizing it. Student leaders from various departments of the graduate student union and Party member volunteers actively participated. The registration process was warm, meticulous, efficient and orderly.
At 8 a.m. on September 9th, staff members and volunteers guided the freshmen to complete the registration process one after another, helping them quickly integrate into campus life and feel the care of the college. The college leaders and all full-time and part-time counselors of the postgraduate affairs group are respectively on duty at the front line of the freshmen welcoming work in the two campuses. Together with the volunteers, they provide consultation and guidance services for the freshmen to ensure the smooth and orderly progress of the freshmen welcoming work. The registration site was orderly and the atmosphere was lively.
At 5:30 p.m., the college's leadership team led a visit to the dormitories of the new postgraduate students in both campuses. They had a cordial chat with the new students, learned about their adaptation to the campus, listened to their feedback, and urged them to do a good job in dormitory safety construction and mutual assistance. They also encouraged the new students to actively engage in postgraduate life and study.
At 14:00 on the afternoon of September 10th, members of the postgraduate affairs group of the college and all the master's students of the 2025 grade held the first orientation of the college in the "Seeking Truth Lecture Hall" at the Changping Campus. Doctoral students watched the live broadcast simultaneously in the second-floor lecture hall of the Conference Center in the East Campus. Yu Hongjie carried out an education on the ideals and beliefs of the freshmen with the theme of "Honesty, simplicity, Diligent Study, Pursuit of Excellence, Lofty Aspirations, and Innovation for the Country", encouraging the postgraduate students of the 2025 grade to establish a sense of self-motivated learning and independent research ability, and strive to grow into high-level talents capable of shouldering the great responsibility of national rejuvenation. Wang Weimin introduced the discipline construction situation of the college and encouraged the freshmen to broaden their international horizons, delve into production practice, and enhance their abilities in practice. Vice President Zhang Jing gave a safety education, emphasizing the internalization of safety awareness in the heart and the externalization of it in actions. Tang Gang put forward requirements regarding the cultivation of postgraduate students and the construction of academic atmosphere, and particularly emphasized the regulations on scientific research confidentiality and the bottom line of safety. Zhang Ya interpreted the relevant contents of student status management and training programs in the "Graduate Handbook", and encouraged the creation of a good learning atmosphere. After the meeting, Qi Haoying organized separate meetings for the new master's and doctoral students, held the first class meeting by class, and successfully completed the election and establishment of the Party branch committee, the Youth League branch committee, and the class committees, helping the new students adapt to the study and life in the postgraduate stage.
At 9:30 a.m. on September 11th, the person in charge of the postgraduate Party branch of the college gave a special Party lesson on the development of Party members and a special report on the academic life and daily management of postgraduates to all the freshmen of 2025 in the Science Hall.
The three-day orientation work has come to an end. The college will focus on guiding the ideological values and academic development of postgraduates in the future, and take multiple measures to ensure the overall improvement of the quality of talent cultivation.
