On the afternoon of September 9th, the 2025 undergraduate freshmen meeting of the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Beijing University of Chemical Technology was successfully held at the Changping Campus Gymnasium. This meeting aims to help new students gain a deeper understanding of the school's rich cultural heritage, educational philosophy, professional curriculum system, and diverse platform resources, thus marking the beginning of their new university life.
Yu Hongjie, Wang Weimin, Tang Gang, Zhang Jing, and Pan Xin attended this meeting. Department heads and program leaders, teacher representatives, academic administrators, homeroom teachers for the Class of 2025, counselors, and all freshmen of the 2025 Smart Technology major participated in the meeting. The meeting was hosted by Ren Feng.
At the beginning of the meeting, there was a flag-raising ceremony by the National Flag Guard. All participants faced the national flag and sang the national anthem.
At the meeting, Ni Haoyue, a representative of the 2025 freshmen from Class A2504 of the School of Mechanical Intelligence, expressed sincere gratitude on behalf of all the new students to the teachers and senior students for their selfless dedication. She stated that she feels a deep sense of pride in becoming a 'Mechanical and Electrical Student,' and that this honor is closely connected to the mission of national manufacturing and intelligent development in the current era. At the starting point of this new journey, she pledged to study diligently, cultivate virtue, and sharpen her skills, writing the chapter of her youth through practical efforts, striving to grow into a young person of the new era who lives up to the times and expectations.
Wei Ziyang, a 2022 undergraduate student, spoke as a representative of the senior students to extend a heartfelt welcome to all new students. Drawing on his own growth experiences at university, he encouraged the juniors to 'seek inwardly,' honing a resilient and pressure-resistant 'engineer's heart'; at the same time, they should 'explore outwardly,' actively broadening their cognitive horizons and going beyond the limits of their major. He called on everyone to uphold the spirit of mechanical and electrical students—'pragmatic, truth-seeking, collaborative, and innovative'—to write a youth without regrets through hard work and to contribute their youthful energy to the prosperity and strength of the country through concrete actions.
Li Shuangxi warmly welcomed the arrival of the new students of the class of 2025. He encouraged them to integrate their personal aspirations with the nation’s development, to cherish every day of their university life, and to face difficulties and uncertainties without fear. With the support of the academy, the guidance of their teachers, and their own relentless efforts, they should continue to make progress, gain growth, enjoy a fulfilling and exciting university experience, and confidently embark on a new journey in life.
Wang Weimin systematically introduced the college's basic situation in terms of educational and teaching objectives, talent training system, teaching and research platforms, faculty development, and college culture. He emphasized that the college always focuses on improving the quality of talent, continuously promotes the integration of science and education as well as collaboration between industry and education, and actively stimulates teaching and innovation vitality through competition mechanisms. Mr. Jiao Zhiwei, the program leader of Mechanical Design, Manufacturing, and Automation, first extended a warm welcome and best wishes to the freshmen of the Class of 2025. Using the question 'What is mechanics?' as an introduction, he provided a detailed overview of the development history of the mechanical engineering program, the faculty team, the knowledge system, student training, and future development directions, hoping that the new students would make 'wise' choices and create a brilliant future!
Professor Li Qixing, the head of the Process Equipment and Control Engineering program, shared the development history of the major, introduced the program's landmark achievements, and, in conjunction with the training plan and future prospects, expressed his expectations for the students. Professor Chen Dongliang, the head of the Safety Engineering program, showed the new students the wide range of career paths and achievements of previous graduates.
