From July 25 to July 28, the 18th National College Students Advanced Drawing Technology and Product Information Modeling Innovation Competition, also known as the "Higher Education Cup," was grandly held at Taiyuan University of Technology. The "Higher Education Cup" National College Students Advanced Drawing Technology and Product Information Modeling Innovation Competition is jointly organized by the former Steering Committee for Engineering Graphics Courses of the Ministry of Education, the Graphic Technology Professional Committee of the China Society of Graphics, and the Product Information Modeling Professional Committee of the China Society of Graphics. It is the highest-level national competition for graphics courses and is regarded as the "Olympic Games of the graphics field." In 2018, it was included in the national ranking of subject competitions for regular higher education institutions by the China Association of Higher Education. This year's competition includes five categories: mechanical, architecture, road and bridge, water conservancy, and electronics. Within the mechanical category, there are four tracks: advanced drawing technology, additive manufacturing, lightweight design, and digital innovation design.

The competition adopts a three-tier system consisting of school-level selection contests, provincial preliminaries, and the natonal finals. This year's competition covers over 1,147 schools in more than 30 provinces, cities, and autonomous regions nationwide, with about 480,000 students participating in the school-level selection contests; the national finals feature 1,001 schools and more than 15,500 students participating.

Our school, led by Teachers An Ying, Zheng Rao, and Shi Xin from the College Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, along with graduate teaching assistants Wang Xusheng and Hu Yanru, achieved outstanding results. Our school team won the first prize in the mechanical category for the first time, setting a historic high for the school's team awards in this competition. In addition, we won three first prizes, two second prizes, and four third prizes in the Advanced Mechanical Drawing Technology track for individuals, one second prize in the Additive Manufacturing track, and one first prize and one second prize in the Lightweight Design and AI Application track.

The school attaches great importance to cultivating students' innovation and entrepreneurship abilities. The College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering has consistently prioritized student innovation and entrepreneurship. As engineering drawing is an important foundation for expressing engineering abilities, during the process of vigorously developing basic mechanical courses and comprehensive reforms in educational models under the background of the 'New Engineering Education' initiative, the Mechanical Drawing Teaching and Research Section has continuously promoted curriculum teaching reforms and has integrated this competition into engineering drawing teaching, achieving good practical teaching results.
