From March 22 to 23, 2025, the Beijing Municipal Education Commission hosted the Beijing College Students' Engineering Practice and Innovation Ability Competition, which also served as the provincial selection for the 2025 National College Students' Engineering Practice and Innovation Ability Competition. This event was co-organized by the Engineering Training Research Branch of the Higher Education Association, Tsinghua University, China Agricultural University, Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, and Beijing Technology and Business University. The competition concluded successfully.
This year's event featured four tracks with eleven sub-events, including the New Energy Vehicle track, the 'Smart+' track, the Virtual Simulation track, and the Engineering Maker track. A total of over 400 teams from 28 universities in Beijing participated in the competition. Our university's Engineering Training Center selected 40 teams to represent our institution. Students from North China University of Chemical Technology stood out due to their solid professional foundation and outstanding innovation and practical abilities, winning 12 Grand Prizes, 13 First Prizes, and 15 Second Prizes. The Grand Prizes covered various sub-events such as solar-powered electric vehicles, thermoelectric vehicles, intelligent waste sorting, smart rescue, digitalization of engineering scenarios, enterprise operation simulation, and exploration of future technologies, achieving the best historical performance of the North China University of Chemical Technology team in this competition.
China College Student Innovation Competition is A national college student science and technology innovation practice activity sponsored by the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education. It is an important competition included in the "2023 National College Student Competition Analysis Report". It is a category A discipline competition of the Ministry of Education and one of the most influential and authoritative national college student science and technology innovation competitions. The theme of this competition is "Cross-integration engineering innovation and innovation, moral cultivation and courageous responsibility for the construction of a strong country". The Red Army Long March, education and craftsman spirit are integrated into the competition, and the outstanding engineering and technology reserve force supporting the construction of a strong manufacturing country is cultivated through the construction of a practical education platform oriented to engineering reality, serving social needs, and collaborative innovation between schools and enterprises. Promote the formation of a world-leading engineering practice and innovation education system with Chinese characteristics.
At the closing ceremony of the competition, Director Li Fangjun from the Engineering Training Center of Beijing University of Chemical Technology provided detailed comments on each event, highly commending the expansion of the competition scale and the improvement in its quality. He also highly praised the organization work of the competition. Over the years, our university's engineering training center has been responsible for organizing tasks such as registration, selection, and training guidance for the competition, helping students achieve excellent results and comprehensively enhancing their engineering practice innovation and comprehensive abilities. This competition not only effectively improved the engineering practice innovation ability of our students but also further strengthened technical exchanges with other universities. In the future, the engineering training center will continue to seize the opportunity of competitions to provide high-quality organizational and guidance services for students, building platforms for learning, exchange, and display, and exploring new models for cultivating innovative talents in the new era! We look forward to our teachers and students achieving outstanding results again on the national competition stage, bringing honor to our school!
