The major of Robotics Engineering is a key construction major of the "New Engineering Disciplines" of the state and a first-class major in Beijing. It received Category “A” of the "Robotics Engineering" major in 2020 national universities ranking, and recently received another Category “A” rating in the Chinese University Rankings for the Robotics Engineering major in 2024. This major is oriented towards the national strategy of "Made in China 2025", the field of intelligent manufacturing, the development trend of the robotics discipline and the demand for talents. It aims to cultivate high-quality and complex new engineering talents who meet the needs of social development and industry construction, are familiar with international norms and general rules, have an international perspective and international communication skills, and are rich in the spirit of innovation and the ability of innovative practice. Through a multi-level, personalized and cross-disciplinary training mode, it cultivates: scientific researchers who comprehensively master the basic theoretical system and professional knowledge of robot technology; technical engineers who possess the working skills in the field of robotics and are rich in practical experience and can solve problems in front-line production; people with innovative consciousness and industrial incubation capabilities to become company founders or technological management talents.

This major has affluent teaching resources and a strong education platform: there are provincial- and university-level teaching teams and innovative research groups, and several teaching and research bases, experimental teaching demonstration centers and key laboratories, practice bases such as SIASUN Robot & Automation Co., Ltd., forming a collaborative education mechanism for open education.

All teachers in this major have doctoral degrees. There are currently 2 doctoral supervisors and one provincial- and ministerial-level teaching master in this major. The main research directions of the major are service robots, special robots and bionic robots. The research level is at the domestic forefront, in the directions of robot mechanics, unmanned technology and intelligent control strategy.

Cultivation of students is always the primary task. As the first batch of undergraduates of this major, 26 students in Class 1901 of Robotics Engineering reaches an average GPA of 3.52 and a 100% postgraduate study rate. The total amount of scholarships won by the class reached 174,000 RMB yuan, with a cumulative total of 81 awards and a 100% award-winning rate. In October 2021, Class 1901 of Robotics Engineering was rated as the "Top Ten Advanced Class Collectives of Beijing University of Chemical Technology", and in 2022, it was rated as the "Pioneer League Branch of Beijing University of Chemical Technology". Students in the class also actively participated in various volunteer services, and the cumulative volunteer hours exceeded 1,300 hours. In addition, 27 cumulative people have held important positions in various student organizations and associations; 14 cumulative people have won national-level awards in competitions, 56 cumulative people have won municipal-level awards, 72 cumulative people have won university-level awards and 24 cumulative people have won college-level awards. Subsequently, this major will continue to strengthen the cultivation of students on campus and deliver more and more important high-end talents in the field of robotics to the society.
