On September 25, for the 70th birthday of the People's Republic of China, Beijing University of Chemical Technology held an award ceremony for the Medal of the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the PRC, to salute the brilliant achievements of China, including the country's prosperity, national rejuvenation, and people's happiness. The CPC Central Committee, the State Council and the Central Military Commission made a decision to award the Medal of the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the PRC to the living old soldiers and comrades who took part in the revolutionary before the founding of the PRC, people won the national awards or above and foreigners who have made outstanding contributions to the founding of the PRC, etc.
Professor Weimin Yang has led the Yinglan lab to make outstanding achievements, won the Second Prize of Scientific and Technological Progress Award of China twice, and was awarded the Medal of the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the PRC. At the 70th anniversary of the founding of the PRC, he was invited to attend the ceremony as a guest at Tian'anmen Square.
Professor Weimin Yang, as a National Excellent Teacher and specially recruited professor of the "New Yangtze River Scholar Initiative Program", has held several positions. In recent years, he has presided over and undertaken over 50 National Key Research and Development Programs, National Sci-Tech Support Program and National Natural Science Foundation of China, and has made many innovative achievements. He has applied for more than 500 Chinese invention patents (237 granted), won 2 National Science and Technology Progress Awards, 15 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards. He has published more than 600 academic papers, 22 books, and has been invited to over 40 academic conferences at home and abroad to give reports. The medal on the 70th anniversary is the appreciation for Professor Weimin Yang's achievements from China, and also the best explanation for his work described as “Remain true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind”.
