Orientation ceremony
To help 2019 undergraduate students adapt to university life quickly and to start the new semester with enthusia**, with the aim to form a good learning atmosphere, develop good habits in studying, behavior and life, and quickly complete the transformation from high school students to college students, on the morning of August 29, 2019, our university held the opening ceremony of 2019 undergraduate students in the gymnasium of Changping campus, and all the freshmen of College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering attended the ceremony. In the afternoon, the freshmen listened to detailed reports on learning atmosphere construction, international talent cultivation, safety education and daily education and management of students, so that they could understand and adapt to university life faster and better.
The first lesson from professors
To strengthen the understanding of majors in the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Professor Weimin Yang, Professor Kuisheng Wang, Professor Lidong He, and Professor Junliang Zhou taught the wonderful first class for students of Mechanical Engineering A1901-1905, Mechanical Engineering A1906-1910, Mechanical Engineering A1911-1914 and Industrial Design A1901-1905 at 9:00 on August 30 respectively.
Professor Weimin Yang taught in four aspects: discipline, research platform, teachers and scientific innovation. He encouraged new students to cherish their time in university, study hard and strive to be the leading talents in the industry.
Professor Kuisheng Wang explained to the students the nature, purpose, and content of university learning, teaching management, and other aspects so that the new students would realize the importance of good habits and time management in University.
Professor Lidong He first explained the monitoring and diagnosing system and the remote monitoring and diagnosing center to the students. Then he introduced intelligent health monitoring by high-end power machines from the three core technologies including data acquisition system, automatic fault diagnosis expert system and fault diagnosis expert system based on big data so that the freshmen could understand the discipline and research direction of our college.
Professor Junliang Zhou guided the students to cultivate divergent thinking, foster innovations in a pioneering spirit and put forward their own ideas. He showed to students that art is not only the fruit of aesthetics but also the expression of cultural heritage. He encouraged students to read art philosophy books and improve their own artistic thinking, to provide a solid theoretical basis for their future art design learning.
Meeting Between College Leaders and the Freshmen
At 10:30 a.m., the college leaders met the freshmen and introduced the college and cultivation plan of professionals. First, Professor Weimin Yang made a general introduction from the establishment to the future development of our college, and summarized the connections between majors from "Process Equipment and Control Engineering + Safety Engineering" to "Industrial design + Polymer Materials Processing and Equipment Forming". After that, Professor Weimin Yang clearly pointed out the departments and the research teams of the college. In talent cultivation, the college responds to the call of China on the academic study: to combines knowledge with practice, to implement system innovation, to make the college international through international cooperation and talent cultivation, and to actually implement the "111 Overseas Talent Introduction" plan.
Finally, he put forward the "interdisciplinary innovation talents cultivation" mode to actively cultivate high-quality talents for the country. He also raised expectations for new students that they should make the best of their time in university.
For a better understanding of each major, the professors from different majors introduced the contents of all majors. Professor. Chenghong Duan, head of the Department of Process Equipment and Control Engineering started from the origin of process equipment, compared the specialty to "One machine with two wings" and cited many examples combining discipline construction, scientific research institutions, teaching and research results. She was speaking in a slightly humorous style, which made the students listen with interest.
Mr. Dongliang Chen introduced the major of “Safety Engineering”, including its positioning, support platform, talent cultivation, and future scientific research direction. At last, with a short video, he showed to the students why they should study hard in university and hoped that they should study hard and serve their motherland.
The major of Robot is a newly established major in our college. The professor described the current research of other universities in China. Although it is a relatively new major, it complies with the future trend. His speech gave students a lot of confidence.
Professor Xiuqing Ma from Department of Mechanical Engineering and Automation", used several vivid examples and in a rigorous point of view to elaborate on the future development, cultivation plan and graduation direction of this major. Data on the specialist in this major was also listed as a reference.
Finally, Professor Junliang Zhou introduced the major of "Industrial Design" in humorous language, and introduced the future of product design by asking questions. The learning plan and examples of excellent students in recent years were also introduced so that the students could have a deep understanding of their future.
2019 Grade Class Headteacher Meeting
On the afternoon of August 30, to make the freshmen know more about the teachers and the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, and to promote everyone to adapt to the new collection and environment, each class organized a headteacher meeting. At the meetings, the headteachers encouraged everyone to focus on study, develop hobbies and forge ahead. They need to remember the past and create the future. One must be practical and work hard to accomplish his mission.
2019 Grade Meeting
On the morning of August 31, Jinzhao Xie, Xin Shi, and Xue Luo, counselors of grade 2019, organized the grade meetings to get familiar with the new students. At the grade meetings, the three counselors expressed their expectations for the freshmen in the new and put forward the rules and regulations. They hoped that the students would set sail with wisdom and diligence to make achievements in the future.
Election of Class Committee
To help new students familiar with their clas**ates and establish a good friendship between them, three counselors actively organized the class committee election. In the election, the students regarded it as a precious opportunity and actively introduced themselves to everyone on stage. The brilliant speeches of the students won applause from everyone. Finally, all class committee was elected in the fierce competition, I believe they will make efforts to build an excellent class.
It's a beautiful autumn with the fragrance of orange o**anthus. A new semester has come. As a new start, it opens up new hopes and carries new dreams. In the new semester, all teachers and students of the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering will work together to compose a new chapter with wisdom and effort.
