Enterprise Mentor Appointment Meeting Organized by the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering for Industry-University Integration and Collaborative Education between Beijing University of Chemical Technology and Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Zone

  On the morning of July 14, 2019, the appointment meeting for industry-university integration and collaborative education between Beijing University of Chemical Technology and Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Zone for the second group of enterprise mentors was held in room 408 of the Mechanical Engineering building. A number of college leaders attended the appointment meeting, including Professor Yang Weimin, dean of the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering of Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Professor Wang Zhiqian, deputy director of Academic Affairs Office, Yu Hongjie, deputy dean of the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Wang Yongtao, deputy dean, Zhang Dongsheng, director of the Department of Safety Engineering, Chen Dongliang, deputy director, etc. Seven employed enterprise mentors attended the meeting, including Tian Wei, head of Reichhold Polymer (Tianjin) Co., Ltd., Chen Wei, chief of the Supervision Section of the Work Safety Supervision and Administration Bureau of Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Zone, Bi Xiangbin, head of the Safety and Environmental Protection Department of Tianjin Modern Industrial Zone Corporation, Guan Bo, general manager of Hangu base of Tianjin Rianlon Materials Co., Ltd., Tian Lisong, general manager of Yi'ansi (Tianjin) Technical Consulting Co., Ltd, Ao Dongfang, lawyer of Beijing Tiantai Law Firm, and Lu Ming, safety director of Reichhold Polymer (Tianjin) Co., Ltd.. The meeting was presided over by Yu Hongjie, dean of teaching.

 

  

  Dean Yang Weimin expressed a warm welcome to the arrival of seven representatives of enterprise mentors. He introduced the development status of safety engineering major, which was regarded as the key construction major by the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, as well as the fruitful achievements in personnel training. As Dean Yang Weimin stressed, in recent years, safety and emergency response had been highly valued by the national scientific and technological community, which was one of the main directions of the college. We were expected to meet the demand of the country by shouldering the social mission of talent training. The personnel training of safety engineering should be initiated from the undergraduate stage, and the safety and emergency talents should be cultivated through the industry-university integration. In order to provide intellectual support, scientific and technological support, as well as policy support for the development of security undertakings and the construction of a civilized and powerful country, the three parties, namely the government, enterprises and university, should further strengthen cooperation and carry out planning and strategy on personnel training, policy planning and scientific research from the strategic perspective of national security and emergency response.

 

  

  As representatives of enterprise tutors, Chen Wei, chief of the Supervision Section of the Work Safety Supervision and Administration Bureau of Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Zone, and Tian Wei, head of Reichhold Polymer (Tianjin) Co., Ltd., delivered their speeches. They said that it was forward-looking to create an industry-university-research integrated education model and to recruit enterprise mentors, which not only met the requirements of the government, enterprises, and universities, but also provided a win-win platform for universities, safety supervision departments, and enterprises. It was beneficial for students to apply their knowledge to practice in enterprises, thus assuming an irreplaceable role for students, families, and even the whole society. We should take advantage of the opportunity to promote the integration of industry and university and be the pioneer of talent training under the mode.

 

  

  The university gave full support to the enterprise tutor appointment event carried out by the college of mechanical and electrical engineering. Wang Zhiqian, deputy director of the academic affairs office, said in his speech that the high promotion and implementation efficiency, as well as the remarkable results manifested in the project of enterprise mentor appointment and government-enterprise-university cooperative education, were worthy of reference by all colleges. All parties were expected to make joint efforts to make the recruitment of business mentors, university-enterprise cooperation and the cultivation of talents with industry-university integration into a major highlight and brand of Beijing University of Chemical Technology in education fields.

 

  

  Zhang Dongsheng, director of the major of safety engineering, expressed his gratitude to Mr. Lu Ming, safety director of Reichhold Polymer (Tianjin) Co., Ltd., for promoting the invitation of enterprise mentors and facilitating the exchange and cooperation among the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the government and enterprises of Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Zone. In addition, he conveyed the hope that all parties would strengthen cooperation to create a new win-win situation.

 

  

  The cooperation process witnessed by Beijing University of Chemical Technology as well as the government and enterprises of Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Zone was one of the effective measures to promote the construction of "new engineering" of safety with the objectives of building a first-class major and becoming the starting point of "collaborative education with industry-education integration ". Through the visit of the Safety Supervision Bureau of Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Zone and enterprise experts to the campus to participate in the teaching and give instructions for the graduation thesis, as well as the students' internship and practice in Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Zone, the comprehensive cooperative relationships among cultivation, training, academic research, service, and scientific research were formed between the college, the Safety Supervision Bureau of Tianjin Economic and Technological Development Zone and the enterprises under its jurisdiction. On May 24, 2019, the college signed a government-enterprise-university cooperative education agreement with the Safety Supervision Bureau of the development zone and its enterprises, with a talent training innovation practice base being jointly built. As the embodiment of further cooperation among the three parties, the appointment meeting of enterprise mentors would surely achieve more satisfactory results. Both sides were expected to take the opportunity of enterprise mentor recruitment to carry out more in-depth personnel training and exchange in more aspects, with a view to bringing the industry-university-research collaborative education mode to a new height.
