On July 13, the university’s class of 1999 alumni made a visit and arrived in the morning. After the fleeting 20 years, the reunited alumni embraced, talked, and posed for photos with great excitement.

Subsequently, the 1999 alumni went to the multi-functional hall of the library to participate in the celebration activity named as the "Alumni Homecoming Day for the 20th Anniversary of Graduation" held by the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. The alumni expressed their gratitude for their teachers and offered suggestions for the development of the university. The celebration was presided over by Wang Yongtao, dean of the college.

First of all, Wang Yongtao, dean of the college, extended a warm welcome to the 1999 alumni on behalf of all the teachers and students of the college! He then introduced the great changes and remarkable progress of the university in the past 20 years from the aspects of talent training, discipline construction, faculty construction, scientific research, awards, etc. In the past two decades, through deepening reform comprehensively and forging ahead, various undertakings of the university had flourished and achieved remarkable achievements. He said that in addition to the joint efforts of several generations of the BUCT family, these achievements were inseparable from the care, support, and selfless dedication of all alumni and teachers present. What the university had achieved in the past 20 years was undoubtedly gratifying and inspiring, which, apart from the continuous efforts of the entire BUCT family, should also be attributed to the efforts of the alumni. In addition, Wang Yongtao said that returning to the alma mater had been regarded as a platform for the alumni to express their friendship, maintain contact, and exchange information. Taking this opportunity, the college would further strengthen the communication and cooperation with alumni to achieve the common development of both the alumni and the university.

Later, Professor Cui Wenyong, former deputy secretary of the party committee of the college, delivered a speech and expressed his warm welcome and sincere gratitude to the alumni. He reviewed his years of teaching at the university and urged the alumni to make full use of their prime to work harder for greater achievements. Finally, he wished everyone good health and their families happiness.

Despite having been in all walks of life all over the country for 20 years after graduation, the bonds of the alumni’s friendship remained strong. The meeting twenty years later turned sincere friendship into endless words. They talked and laughed as they had always been, talking about their growth and achievements over the years as well as their gratitude to the alma mater.

After the symposium, the alumni took photos under the spotlight of the alma mater and visited the campus where they had studied and lived, which seemed to bring them back to the precious college days. The 1999 alumni said that the reunion 20 years later provided an opportunity to share their parting sentiments, reminisce about the past, and offer advice on the development of their alma mater. They were looking forward to continuing the conversation when they meet next time.
