The college organized the homecoming of the class of 1989 alumni on July 7. Having graduated for 30 years, the class of 1989 alumni of the College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering returned to their alma mater. When they met again, the alumni all talked and took photos excitedly.
Subsequently, the 1989 alumni went to the conference room of the library to participate in the celebration activity entitled "Alumni Homecoming Day for the 30th Anniversary of Graduation" held by the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. The alumni expressed their gratitude for their teachers and offered suggestions for the development of the university. The celebration was presided over by Wang Yongtao, deputy dean of the college.
First of all, Zhang Bing, secretary of the party committee of the college, extended a warm welcome to the alumni on behalf of all the teachers and students of the college. He then introduced the great changes and remarkable progress of the university in the past 30 years from aspects of talent training, discipline construction, faculty construction, scientific research, awards, etc. In the past three decades, through conducting continuous reform, keeping up with the trend of the times, and introducing excellent faculty, various disciplines of the university had achieved remarkable achievements. Apart from the joint efforts of teachers and students, these achievements were inseparable from the care, support, and selfless dedication of all alumni and teachers present.
Next, Professor Lin Gongcheng, former department director of 1989, gave a passionate speech, which attracted a number of alumni to record precious moments with their mobile phones. In spite of being 80 years old, Professor Lin Gongcheng was fit and energetic. He recalled the time he had spent with the alumni and was genuinely grateful for what they had achieved. Finally, he conveyed his wishes to the alumni for good health and longevity.
Xiang Jun, deputy secretary of the class of 1989, also delivered a speech. After bowing to the guests three times, he expressed his gratitude to the university and welcome to the alumni. Taking himself as an example, he hoped that the alumni would make unremitting efforts and devote themselves to their work. He wished the alumni a successful career and a happy life in the end.
Deputy dean Wang Yongtao presented the well-preserved curriculum design drawings of 1989 alumni and gave them as gifts. The faded drawings seemed to bring people back to 30 years ago in an instant. For the students of the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the memory of making drawings together in the classroom would always be the most precious and moving.
Finally, the class of 1989 alumni and their teachers took photos under the spotlight of the alma mater. Despite the long-gone youth, friendship would never fade and would become even more meaningful as time went by. The 30th anniversary of the returning alumni was a record of the warm moments for the class of 1989 and generations of inheritance of the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering as well.
