1. Introduction to the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering
Founded in 1958, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, formerly known as the Beijing Institute of Chemical Technology, is a high-level university established by our country to “cultivate advanced chemical talents for cutting-edge science and technology”. It is a national key university directly under the administration of the Ministry of Education, one of the important academies implementing the national “211 Project” and a “985 superior discipline innovation platform”. The College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering is one of the three subjects of our university when it was founded. BUCT’s predecessor was the Mechanical Department of Beijing Institute of Chemical Technology founded in 1958. In 1995, it was renamed as the School of Mechanical Engineering; and in March 2000, it was renamed again as the College of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
At present, there are 1 academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, 1 double-employed academician, 1 chair professor of “Chang Jiang Scholars Program”, 1 “973 Project Chief Scientist of the Ministry of Science and Technology”, 4 New Century Excellent Talents of the Ministry of Education, 3 talents of Beijing New-star Plan of Science and Technology and 2 Famous Teachers of Beijing. Under the leadership of Academician Gao Jinji, the BUCT Diagnosis and Self-Healing Engineering Research Center was established in 2001. Also, the independent research and development of mechanical fault diagnosis expert system and remote monitoring platform was built, which has conducted early-warning diagnosis for 1,700 key units of 50 enterprises, helped them avoid dozens of accidents, and assisted enterprises to solve more than 20 major engineering problems such as vibration fault. In 2016, Academician Gao Jinji won the ISCEAM Lifetime Achievement Award. He is now an academician and consultant of the development and construction of Air Force of the CPLA, undertaking one 973 Project. Moreover, under the leadership of Yang Weimin, a chair professor of Chang Jiang Scholars, the college has successively undertaken the national and local Science and Technology Support Programs of the “11th Five Year Plan” and the “12th Five Year Plan”. We are now undertaking the first batch of key research and development projects of the 13th Five Year Plan launched by the state.

Our college undertakes the construction of the first-level discipline doctoral program of “Power Engineering and Engineering Thermophysics”, the national second-level key discipline of “Chemical Process Machinery”, Beijing key discipline of “Mechanical Design and Theory”, and Beijing key interdisciplinary subject of “Safety Engineering”. In the meanwhile, we have also formed many characteristic disciplines in the construction of national defense disciplines. In 2016, BUCT was selected into the list of 16 colleges and universities jointly established by the State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense and the Ministry of Education during the “13th Five Year Plan”. With the support of above disciplines, we have established the “Engineering Research Center of Chemical Technology and Safety, Ministry of Education”, “Engineering Research Center for Polymer Processing Equipment, Ministry of Education”, “National Foundation Research Laboratory of Fault Prevention and Control in Hazards Chemical Production System”, “Beijing Key Laboratory of Health Monitoring Control and Fault Self-recovery for High-end Machinery”, “National Engineering Laboratory of Tire Design and Manufacturing Process”, “State Key Laboratory of Organic-Inorganic Composites”, etc.

In the 21st century full of opportunities and challenges, BUCT has acquired nearly 2000 mu of land in Nankou Town, Changping District for the construction of new campus, which is our centenary plan. | Category B Talents | Scholars who have made outstanding academic achievements in this field, have the ability and level to act as a professor, doctoral supervisor and academic leader of a discipline research direction, have rich experience in guiding graduate students or young teachers and have great potential for development. With no more than 40 years old, you are expected to reach the academic level and comprehensive strength equivalent to “Chang Jiang Scholars” and “Distinguished Young Scholars” in the next five years, and must have the experience of independently undertaking research projects at home and abroad and publishing high-level papers in top journals. | ||
| Category C Talents | Scholars who have achieved excellent academic achievements in this field and have the ability and level to hold the post of associate professor or above with no more than 35 years old. Your teaching or scientific research direction should be the subject direction urgently needed by BUCT’s teaching and discipline construction. You are expected to be able to serve as the leader of a research direction of existing disciplines or new interdisciplinary subjects, have the academic level equivalent to the candidate of “Beijing New-star Plan of Science and Technology” or above, obtain the “New Century Excellent Researcher Award Program from Ministry of Education” within 2 years after entering the university, and must have the experience of independently undertaking research projects at home and abroad and publishing high-level papers in top journals. | ||
| 2 | Excellent Young Reserve Personnel | Scholars who are under 35 years old with a doctoral degree. You should graduate from national key discipline related majors or have overseas first-class university study and research experience. Your research direction should be in line with the needs of discipline development of BUCT, and priority will be given to new disciplines and interdisciplinary discipline directions. In terms of academic achievements, you are required to have published more than 6 SCI (SSCI) papers as the first author, of which more than 3 papers have been published in the top journals in the discipline or a highly cited ESI paper is included. | |
