PhD, professor, PhD Supervisor, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, and equipment diagnosis engineering expert. He mainly engages in research on equipment fault diagnosis and self-healing engineering, and informatization and intelligence of maintenance and safety control. He was born in December 1942 in Benxi, Liaoning. In 1966, he graduated from Beijing Institute of Chemical Technology with chemical and machinery major. He was studying engineering mechanics major at the Engineering Mechanics Department of Tsinghua University during 1989 and 1993, and got PhD degree in 1993. He was awarded the title of National Outstanding Young and Middle-aged Scientific Expert in 1988, won the special government subsidies granted by the State Council in 1992, and elected academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering in 1999 (Machinery and Carrier Engineering Department). He was appointed as Deputy Chief Engineer of PetroChina Liaoyang Petrochemical Fiber Company in 1988, and was promoted to Professor-level Senior Engineer in 1991. He began to serve as a professor and PhD supervisor in Beijing University of Chemical Technology, and is currently acting as the director of the academic board of Beijing University of Chemical Technology, and the director of the National Basic Research Laboratory for Fault Prevention and Monitoring and Key Laboratory of Beijing Municipality for Mechanical Equipment Health Monitoring. He also concurrently acts as the head of National Work Safety Experts Group, Vice Chairman of China Association of Plant Engineering, Chairman of Equipment Diagnosis Engineering Committee, Director-General of CSVE (Chinese Society for Vibration Engineering) Equipment Diagnosis Branch, executive director of Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, etc. In 2008, he was employed as a fellow of ISCEAM.
